 Russian Ruble Crash Continues: Dollar Costs 54.18 Rubles, Euro - 67 Rubles

The Bank of Russia conducted foreign exchange market intervention on Friday, Dec. 5 for the last time. However, it did not committ spot intervention yesterday.

The dollar and the euro strengthened against the ruble at the opening of trading on Tuesday, Censor.NET reports citing UNIAN.

The euro exchange rate has reached 67 rubles; USD exchange rate has exceeded 54 rubles per dollar.

The euro exchange rate has reached 67 rubles per euro at 10:17 a.m. Moscow time. At the close of trading yesterday, the price of the euro was 66.24 rubles. The dollar exchange rate was 54.18 rubles as at 10:10 a.m. Moscow time. Yesterday's closing rate was 53.76 rubles per dollar.

Bank of Russia reported Dec. 5 that its foreign exchange market intervention amounted to about $1.9 billion. Earlier, the Central Bank reported on $1.9 billion spent during spot intervention on Wednesday, Dec. 3.
