"We shared our concerns about the crisis in Ukraine and agreed that it is important for Russia to withdraw from eastern Ukraine, to stop the supply of troops and equipment, to ensure effective management of the border, and allow the OSCE to fulfill its mission. All hostages must be released. The European Union and the United States continue to work closely together, including the sanctions, as well as on the financial support of Ukraine. We have agreed to unite and maintain a steady path," Tusk said.
Former Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk officially took office as the president of the European Council on Monday, Dec. 1. President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko congratulated Tusk on his appointment and expressed hope that the EU leaders summit on Dec. 18-19 will work out the steps in support of Ukraine.
