This was stated by ATO spokesman Vladyslav Selezniov at a press conference in Kyiv, Censor.NET reports citing UNIAN.
"Our intelligence has some data on the number of militants operating in the east of Ukraine, as well as the number of professional Russian troops in the area of the anti-terrorist operation," he said.
"But if I divulge the number known to our intelligence, it will allow the enemy to understand how well we know the situation, so I will operate with the following figures: between 15 and 25 thousand armed militants and 5 to 10 thousand Russian servicemen," Selezniov said.
Meanwhile, in the territory of the Luhansk region controlled by Ukraine terrorist attacks continue.
"In Shchastia as a result of a mortar attack the work of a collector has been interrupted, supply of heating and hot water from thermal power plant has been discontinued," Head of the Luhansk region Hennadii Moskal said. "The city, including a hospital are currently without heat. Maintenance crews are working on-site and there is hope that they will repair the damage by the end of the day."
In the towns and villages left without heat, employees of the Emergency Ministry set up heating points with stoves, where people can keep warm and drink hot tea.
Luhansk Regional Administration through intermediaries is trying to negotiate a ceasefire with the militants and access of energy and gas maintenance teams to the neutral territory.
Exercises and enemy forces strengthening continue in the area of Telmanovo, states Dmytro Tymchuk on his Facebook page.
"The enemy task force concentrated in the area of Telmanovo and to the north of it is clearly strengthening as a result of deployment of militants from other sectors of the front and replenishment with "mobilized" locals and Russian troops (the latter in the amount of at least two motorized infantry brigades from the South Military District of Russia), " he wrote.
According to Tymchuk a maneuver by the Russian-terrorist troops and equipment along the "line of contact" from Pavlopil and Chermalyk to Telmanovo has been recorded. The purpose of this maneuver is being determined.
The NSDC reports that during the last day one soldier was killed and five injured in the ATO area.
