 EU Expects Speedy Formation of New Government of Ukraine

The European Council expects a prompt formation of the new government of Ukraine.

This was stated in the conclusions of the today's meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels, Censor.NET reports referring to the website of the EU Council.

"The Council expects speedy formation of a new government. Based on the results of elections, a broad national consensus must be sought in the intensification of the much-needed political and economic reforms in Ukraine, including constitutional reform, decentralization, reform of the judiciary system, law enforcement, combating corruption, and ensuring the rights of national minorities," the document states.

The conclusions also indicates that the Council welcomes the holding of parliamentary elections in Ukraine on Oct. 26 which became "an important step in the quest to consolidate Ukraine's democratic development in accordance with its international obligations."
