Ukraine has nuclear fuel stock up to September 2015, and it has other than Russian sources of its supply.

This was announced by Energy and Mining Minister Yurii Prodan in his interview to Novoe Vremia, Censor.NET reports.

"We have an alternative source for nuclear fuel supply, an American company Westinghouse," - the minister said.

Ukraine still depends on Russia for its export of spent nuclear fuel - it exports its radioactive waste to the Russian Federation. However, in September this year Ukraine actually began to implement the construction of its own storage facility for spent fuel in the Chornobyl zone.

"The previous government could not provide the land for it for four years, and we did it within a month. So for a hundred years, we will get rid of the dependence. And then we'll see," - Prodan said.
