 Hague Tribunal Delegation Arrives to Kyiv to Investigate Maidan Shootings. PHOTOS

Prosecutor General of Ukraine Vitaly Yarema met the delegation of the Prosecutor’s Office of the International Criminal Court (ICC), which arrived to Ukraine on a working visit.

This is stated by the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office, Censor.NET reports.

"The purpose of the delegation's visit is to assess the situation and discuss the information provided by the Prosecutor General's Office on Sep. 22, 2014, and to confirm the charges against senior officials of Ukraine and bring them to justice in this Court," the statement said.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the progress and results of the investigation of criminal proceedings concerning events related to dispersing peaceful demonstrators, causing bodily harm, as well as murders of citizens in the period from November, 2013 to February 22, 2014.

The Prosecutor General stressed that his office is ready for constructive cooperation with the Prosecutor's Office of the ICC to establish the truth regarding the tragic events that took place in Ukraine during peaceful protests.

Head of the situation assessment department Roger Emerick expressed his gratitude for support and assistance in the work of the ICC mission in Ukraine on behalf of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court.

He also noted that the main objective of the mission is to understand whether the crimes committed in Ukraine during the protests of Nov. 21, 2013 - Feb. 22, 2014 are subject to the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court.

On Feb, 25, 2014 the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine appealed to the International Criminal Court regarding criminal prosecution of senior officials of Ukraine for crimes against humanity during peaceful protests of citizens that took place in Ukraine in the period from Nov. 30, 2013 - Feb 22, 2014, provided for in Article 7 of the Rome Statute of the ICC. On Apr. 25, 2014 ICC Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda initiated a procedure of the preliminary examination of the situation in Ukraine.
