"Yesterday there was an explosion in a Kharkiv cafe which gathers a patriotic crowd ... It has been established beyond doubt that this incident is a terrorist act, and not a gas explosion or anything else. The offense was qualified as a terrorist act," he said . According to the adviser, the investigation of a crime will be conducted by the Security Service of Ukraine.
Herashchenko noted that at the time of the explosion Interior Minister Arsen Avakov and Chief of the Criminal Investigation Department were in Kharkiv and promptly arrived at the scene.
Furthermore, Herashchenko noted that using security camera footage, it was possible to trace the person who brought the explosive device to the pub. At the moment, the police is conducting operational and investigative measures searching for the specified person.
"I can say one thing: we will definitely find the person who did it. We have a visual identification of the person, there are eyewitness testimony, there is footage from the cameras. We believe that this crime will be solved," he said.
"There is an understanding of who it was, and accordingly, we will search for these people," Herashchenko added. Asked how many people could be involved in the explosion, Herashchenko said: "I cannot tell you yet."
Herashchenko said that in terms of external aggression of a neighboring country, Ukrainians will have to live with the constant threat of terrorist attacks for a long time.
