"We paid for everything we had to pay," he said, adding that the amount of the payment was determined based on the price of gas in accordance with the formula of the contract.
"We paid according to our calculations," Kupriyanov said.
He stressed that there is no confirmation as to whether the Ukrainian side accepted the payment.
Russia had not paid for gas transit for over a year since it was made in advance. On Aug. 21, 2014 Gazprom reported that in July, the advance was exhausted due to the gas price increase on Apr. 1 to $485 per 1,000 cubic meters. Naftogaz agrees that the advance payment of Gazprom has been exhausted, but considers it to have happened in September.
