Russia Prevented the UN Security Council Intention to Condemn Terrorists’ "Elections" in the Donbas

The Russian Federation has blocked the UN Security Council presidential statement to the press condemning the illegal "elections" in the terrorists’ DPR and LPR in the Donbas, scheduled for Nov. 2.

Censor.NET reports citing the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

"The draft document reaffirmed the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine and called on all the signatories to fully implement the Minsk agreements. It cheers the efforts of Ukraine in this context, in particular the adoption by the Verkhovna Rada of the Law "On special order of the local government in certain areas of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions" according to which the local elections are scheduled for Dec. 7, 2014," the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry writes.

The statement also condemns the "elections" in the east of Ukraine, scheduled by the illegal armed groups for Nov. 2, which violate not only the Constitution and laws of Ukraine, but also cause serious damage to the Minsk agreements' implementation, the ministry notes.

"Being one of the signatories of Minsk agreements, the Russian Federation has once again demonstrated reluctance and unwillingness to fulfill the agreements' terms by such actions in the Security Council of the UN, " the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine stresses.
