The parties underlined the necessity of achieving conditions for immediate gas supply to Ukraine in winter period and ensuring energy security of Europe, Censor.NET reports citing the press service of the head of state.
Leaders of Ukraine and Germany stressed that it was important that all the arrangements in Brussels were coordinated in constant dialogue with the EU, particularly with President of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso and Vice-President of the European Commission, Commissioner for Energy Günther Oettinger.
Petro Poroshenko informed Angela Merkel that in the given context he would have phone consultations with acting President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy and Jean-Claude Juncker, who will start performing the duties of President of the European Commission on Nov. 1.
Also, President Poroshenko and Chancellor Merkel condemned the intention of holding pseudo-elections in the so-called DPR and LPR on Nov. 2, because they would contradict Minsk protocol of Sep. 5. The president of Ukraine emphasized that all the parties to Minsk protocol and Minsk memorandum bore responsibility for its fulfillment, including the Russian Federation that had reaffirmed devotion to the given agreements following the multilateral dialogue in Milan of Oct. 17.
