As reported by Censor.NET, the negotiator said on air of 112 Ukraine TV channel that there are occasional informal proposals for Ukraine to make concessions and take the Crimea issue off the table in exchange for a possible settlement of the situation in the Donbas.
"I take part in two international [negotiation] venues on the Donbas and I hear them saying during the refreshment breaks: ‘Yevhen Kyrillovych, if Ukraine formally abandons [Crimea], not that it would ever abandon it, but essentially takes the Crimea issue off the table, this may be a compelling reason to resolve the situation in the Donbas’," Marchuk said.
"That is, we must formally abandon Crimea and then it will be possible to [tackle the Donbas issue], as they say ... but this is not final, but it’s supposedly a personal decision. However those telling me this are not private actors at all," said Ukraine’s negotiator in Minsk-bases talks on the Donbas.
However, Marchuk did not name those making such proposals.
