Ukraine's Gas Debt Will Be Paid at $268 Per Cubic Meter Regardless of Gazprom’s Position, Yatseniuk Says

The gas that has been supplied to Ukraine will be paid at $268 for one thousand cubic meters, regardless of the position of JSC Gazprom.

This was stated by Ukrainian Prime Minister Arsenii Yatseniuk at the start of a government meeting on Thursday, Censor.NET reports citing Interfax-Ukraine.

"Ukraine's position is that we will pay for the total volume of gas at the price of $268. Gazprom may view this in their own way, but our position is that the gas already delivered to Ukraine will be paid for at the price of $268," Yatseniuk said.

In this regard, the prime minister noted that Ukraine has $3.1 billion in the accounts for this purpose as the financial assistance of the International Monetary Fund and the European Union.

"Thus, the volume of natural gas supplied earlier, the Ukrainian side will account for at the price of $268, and for that Ukraine has all the necessary funds to completely settle the accounts for the supply of natural gas implemented previously," the prime minister summed up.
