 Minsk Agreement Excludes Holding Pseudo-Elections in Donbas - Mogherini

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko had a phone conversation with Foreign Minister of Italy Federica Mogherini who was appointed High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.

Petro Poroshenko congratulated Federica Mogherini on the appointment to the high post and wished her success: "I wish you to cope with challenges in the EU and first of all outside the EU. You will have to deal with foreign threats".

The president says that Ukraine currently stands for the European integration as never before, and one of the phases of the European integration is the implementation of the Association Agreement.

The newly appointed High Representative of the Union congratulated the President of Ukraine on democratic holding of parliamentary elections and expressed hope for further joint work. She underlined the importance of fulfilling Minsk agreements by all the parties. Commitment to fulfill them was confirmed in the course of multilateral meeting in Milan. In this context, Federica Mogherini emphasizes that item 9 of Minsk protocol of September 5 excludes holding any elections in the Donbas that contradict the legislation of Ukraine.

The President expressed gratitude to the Foreign Minister of Italy for clear position on pseudo-elections of Nov. 2 and called for more decisive actions in case of violation of Minsk agreements.

The interlocutors discussed the issue of holding the international conference of investors and donors for Ukraine at the beginning of the next year. They also underlined the importance of achieving common decisions in the course of today's tripartite gas consultations between Ukraine, Russia, and the EU.

Petro Poroshenko invited Federica Mogherini to visit Ukraine.
