"These are Ukrainian citizens. When Ukrainian citizens are killed, wherever it happens, it's a tragedy," - Poroshenko on Kerch massacre

The Prosecutor's Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea initiated a criminal investigation under the article "act of terrorism" following the events in the college in the occupied Kerch.

This was said by Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko at a meeting with the Ukrainian delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), Censor.NET reports citing the presidential press office.

"Today, there was a terrible murder in Kerch. The prosecutor's office reported that the criminal case was initiated," the head of state said.

The president emphasizes that the investigation of such cases is important for Ukraine, since Crimea is a Ukrainian territory and Ukrainians living in occupation on the peninsula are the citizens of this state.

"Why is it so important to us? Because these are Ukrainian citizens. And of course, when Ukrainian citizens are killed, wherever it happens, it's a tragedy," Poroshenko said.

The president expressed condolences to the Ukrainians who lost their children and relatives.

As reported, an explosion hit the Polytechnic College in the Russian-occupied Crimea's Kerch on Wednesday. Some 18 people were killed and at least 50 wounded, when an unidentified explosive device detonated. Witnesses reported the terror attack and automatic shooting in the college.
