As reported by Censor.NET citing the latest update by the JFO headquarters press center as of Oct. 16, Russian-led forces mounted 19 attacks on the government troops’ positions including three strikes with heavy weapons banned by the Minsk agreements.
The Russian occupation troops employed 120-mm and 82-mm mortars, grenade launchers of various systems, large-caliber machine guns, small arms and snipers against defenders of Stanytsia Luhanska, Novozvanivka, Luhanske, Pisky, Marinka, Berezove, Chermalyk, Pavlopil, Hnutove, Vodiane, Lebedynske and Shyrokyne.
The Russian mercenaries fired upon the Ukrainian troops’ stronghold in the vicinity of Luhanske village with 120-mm and 82-mm mortars and armament of infantry fighting vehicles. The Joint Forces fighters deployed near Vodiane were bombarded with 82-mm mortars. Snipers attacked the defenders of Marinka and Berezove.
"Two Ukrainian servicemen were killed and another one was injured in action over the past 23-hour period," the casualty report reads.
Intelligence sources indicate three invaders eliminated and two wounded yesterday.
"Today, Oct. 17, the enemy committed two attacks on the Joint Forces fighters deployed near Hnutove and Lebedynske villages, the Mariupol section of the forefront, using grenade launchers, large-caliber machine guns and small arms. No strikes with heavy weapons were recorded today. The Joint Forces fighters sustained no casualties in today’s attacks," the JFO HQ said.
