"Preliminary results of the Ukrainian elections show that the Ukrainian people has voted," Lavrov said. "We leave aside the numerous violations that took place at the stage of preparation for the elections, those coercive methods that have been applied to a number of candidates, and the steps for removal of other political forces from the political process - from participation in the elections."

"But the elections took place, nevertheless," he added.

"We expect the final results," Lavrov said. "We hope that the new composition of the Parliament will quickly form a government that will be constructive, and aimed to stop whipping up the tension either in society and with Russia as well as focused on the actions that are now imperative to carry out in the interests of the Ukrainian people," Lavrov said.
