Moscow Recognizes Ukrainian Parliamentary Elections Valid

Russia regards the extraordinary parliamentary elections to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine as valid.

This was stated by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin, Censor.NET reports citing Interfax.

"We are waiting for the official results, right now there is quite contradictory information. But it is already clear that the elections, despite the rather harsh and dirty campaign, have taken place," he stressed.

"This balance of power, which is taking shape, perhaps, allows the Ukrainian leaders to seriously address the root problems of their society," he said.

According to him, the new Parliament will need to "build an inclusive dialogue with society, to go into direct contact with representatives of the regions and to seek a diplomatic solution to the problems which Kyiv's actions led to."

Earlier, the State Duma also stated that it respect the choice of those who took part in the elections to the Verkhovna Rada and wish to cooperate with MPs set for constructive work.
