Ukraine Calls on Russia and its Terrorists to Refrain From Provocations on Election Day

Ukraine urges Russia to refrain from provocations on the day of early parliamentary elections and to ensure access to the polls for the residents of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions in the territories under the control of terrorists.

This was stated by Ukraine's Ambassador to the United Nations Yurii Serheiev during a meeting of the U.N. Security Council, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrainian News.

In particular, he once again called on Russia to fulfill all items of the Minsk agreements that Russia has signed. "We urge Russia to refrain from provocations aimed at to disrupt the upcoming elections. The parliamentary elections will be held this Sunday, Oct. 26th, throughout Ukraine." he said.

He assured the UN that Ukraine is ready to do everything in its power for the elections to be held in accordance with international democratic norms and the laws of Ukraine.

"We call for the unimpeded and free access to the polls for those Ukrainian citizens, who live in the areas under the control of the militants," he added.

The ambassador also called on Russia to use its influence with the separatists to not allow the so-called "election of authorities" that the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic and Luhansk People's Republic plan to hold in early November.
