"The president created a high-level group, the leaders of which will not be announced so no one knows them. It is, in fact, a top-ranking official in the Presidential Administration. This high-level group carries out two things on the daily basis: first - it monitors the revenue of each customs [point], each fiscal institution, second - where, through monitoring, we see smuggling or tax evasion, or other corrupt activities - decisive orders of the president will be made resulting in criminal proceedings or dismissal," Nalyvaichenko said.
"Wherever you see a replacement of management, including the law enforcement agencies in the regions - it is often the result of the fact that this person had not been doing his/her job or allowed smugglers to transport containers without payment to the budget," the head of the SBU said.
"The president has a clear vision that law enforcement officers of any rank should refrain from smuggling [or] should be fired and prosecuted," he said.
"100% rotation of the SBU representatives and leaders dealing with fighting corruption was conducted in every region even before the lustration law. Also, my first deputy responsible for the operation and organization of fighting corruption and smuggling has been replaced," Nalyvaichenko said.
