Ukraine Agreed to Settle Advance and Debt Payments for Russian Gas at $268.5 per 1,000 Cubic Meters

This was agreed at the tripartite gas negotiations in Brussels Tuesday, Censor.NET reports citing the Cabinet of Ministers press center.

Ukrainian delegation at the talks in Brussels was headed by the Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Yurii Prodan, the delegation of the European Commission - by the Vice-President of the European Commission, Commissioner for Energy Gunther Oettinger, and the Russian side - by Russian Energy Minister Alexandr Novak.

During the consultations, the parties expressed common position on the following matters:

- regarding price of $385 per 1,000 cubic meters of gas for supplies within "winter package", supplies by prepayment, and refuse from the "take or pay" principle for this period. The volume of gas to be purchased under these conditions will be specified later;

- regarding the schedule of payment of Ukraine's $3.1 billion as debt for previous supplies of Russian gas based on price of $268.5 (first tranche of $1.45 billion by the end of October and $1.65 billion by the end of the year);

- regarding guarantees for Russia's payment for gas transit through Ukraine.

Next round of negotiations will take place in Brussels on Oct. 29.
