Russia to Ban Ukrainian Fruits and Vegetables Imports

Russia may prohibit import of fruits and vegetables from Ukraine effective Oct. 22.

Censor.NET reports citing Rosselkhoznadzor press service.

"As far as Rosselhoznadzor has not received any response to the requests submitted to Derzhvetfitosluzhba of Ukraine until today, as well as taking into account the full range of threats and risks associated with the current situation, Deputy Head of Rosselkhoznadzor Alexey Saurin decided to introduce temporary restrictions on imports from Ukraine of all types of regulated plant products even if they were just delivered through the territory of Ukraine, starting tomorrow," the statement says.

According to the Russian authorities, loads that come from Ukraine are delivered to Russia without marking which "can be attributed by the supply of plant products from the European Union, which are subject to Russian retaliatory sanctions."

In addition, pests were allegedly found in the plant products coming from Ukraine.
