"A car crash occurred on the Kyiv-Odesa highway not far from Kryve Ozero village around 5 a.m. today, July 20. A Volkswagen minibus with Belarusian license plates heading from Odesa, Ukraine, for Gomel, Belarus collided with a truck, which, according to preliminary findings, broke down and was standing still on the right side of the road," Censor.NET reports citing the statement by the local police press service.
The accident claimed lives of the minibus driver and four passengers. Another 12 passengers received injuries of varying severity and were taken to a hospital. The identities of the victims are being established.
Belarusian BelTA news agency reports that Kyiv-based embassy of Belarus cooperates with local authorities and law enforcement agencies on all issues.
The media outlet says that all the deceased were Belarusian nationals including the owner of the carrier that operated the minivan that got into the accident.
