Both Lexus and VW drivers had zero chance to avert deadly car crash in Kharkiv, - expert at court hearing. PHOTOS

It was impossible to avert the terrible car crash that claimed six lives in downtown Kharkiv on Oct. 18, 2017 since both Lexus and VW drivers violated traffic regulations.

Expert Vitalii Olkhov involved in investigation of the car crash said at Wednesday court hearing, Censor.NET reports citing NewsRoom Kharkiv.

The expert believes that driver of Volkswagen Touareg, Hennadii Dronov crossed the stop line and started moving when the traffic light went yellow. It went green when the suspect had already moved out into the intersection. Lexus driver Olena Zaitseva also did not slow down her vehicle and ran a red light. However, the expert said that it was impossible to establish the speed of both vehicles based on the available footage.

"It was no longer possible to stop the Lexus when Dronov got the right of way. Therefore, it was impossible to avert the collision. Both drivers violated traffic regulations by running red and yellow lights," Olkhov said.
