"The explosion of the Molot mortar, which resulted in the death of three servicemen of the 128th separate mountain infantry brigade on July 6, was caused by double loading," Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Ihor Pavlovskyi said Wednesday at the meeting of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security and Defense, a correspondent for Censor.NET reports.
Pavlovskyi said that the investigative experiment was held at the Rivne training facility with involvement of the Kyiv Research Institute of Forensic Expertise and the Prosecutor's Office of the Western Region.
Moreover, the first mortar that actually exploded at the live-firing exercise and four mortars which were used in the investigative experiment yesterday were taken for examination to avoid possible mudslinging various so-called "experts" like so much.
A representative of the Central Research Institute of Armament and Military Equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine also announced that a total of 12 cases of mortar tube explosions had been recorded since 2014 including eight Molots, three of which exploded because of double loading
As reported, three military were killed and nine others were injured in explosion of the tube of 120 mm Molot mortar in Rivne on July 6.
