"We have heard concerns about the proposed number of candidates for the CEC members. PPB faction is ready to withdraw one of its candidates in order to resolve this issue," president’s faction head Artur Herasymov told journalists on the sidelines of the Verkhovna Rada, the parliamentary correspondent for Censor.NET reports.
He also recalled the statement made by a Popular Front faction member that it is necessary to implement the PACE resolution on a candidate for the CEC member, nominated by one of the factions, the candidate who was not included in Ukrainian president’s proposal.
"We call on the members of our coalition to withdraw one of their candidates as well in order to solve this issue," Herasymov said.
The lawmaker also called on Verkhovna Rada Speaker Andrii Parubii to convene an extraordinary meeting of the leaders of parliamentary factions today at noon to negotiate this issue for it to be resolved as early as on Thursday, July 12.
However, the MP did not name the faction’s candidate to CEC picked for withdrawal: "If all the faction leaders agree to vote at the meeting, we will convene a meeting of the PPB faction and take a decision."
