National Police Communications Department Deputy Director, Olha Atamanova, wrote on social media, Censor.NET reports.
According to National Police Chief Serhii Kniaziev, Ukraine’s Security Service is involved in the investigation of the crime. The investigators believe the law enforcer was murdered for purpose of robbery or his assassination was linked to his professional activities.
"We included our colleagues from the Security Service of Ukraine in the investigation. I believe we shall soon report to the public on the case being solved. We must find the perpetrator and hold one accountable. Dmytro Hlushak was shot dead in downtown Kyiv. Police have been pursuing several leads over the past two days. One of them is homicide for purpose of robbery. The other one is that the murder is linked to the professional activities of the victim," he said.
The deceased policeman was survived by his parents, wife and six-year-old son.
As reported, a person was found shot dead in a car on Shchusieva Street in Kyiv’s Shevchenkivskyi district on July 5. Initial media reports indicated that the deceased was a law enforcement officer.
