EU Increases Number of Documents for Ukrainians to Obtain Schengen Visa

The increase of the number of documents that starting October 15 Ukrainians must submit to obtain a Schengen visa in the consular offices of Poland is consistent with the decision of the European Commission.

This is reported by Censor.NET with reference to an UNIAN citing Foreign Ministry spokesman Yevhen Perebyinis.

He reminded that on Apr. 29, the European Commission approved a unified list of documents that must be submitted by citizens of Ukraine to the consular offices of the Member States to apply for a visa. According to Perebyinis, for its part, Ukraine within the framework of further simplifying travel for its citizens to the EU has consistently demanded from the European side an early adoption of the list of documents for the citizens of Ukraine, which would be uniform for all states.

Therefore, approved a list approved in April makes the Ukrainian citizens applying for a Schengen visa to provide four documents that confirm the purpose of the trip, a source of income in Ukraine, or a certificate of employment, the availability of funds for travel or a bank statement, the availability of accommodation during their stay in Schengen countries .

"Therefore, the list of documents required by the consular offices of Poland in Ukraine fully complies with the European Commission approved the decision on this issue," Perebyinis said.
