PM Hroisman asks parliament to dismiss Finance Minister Danyliuk

Ukraine's Prime Minister Volodymyr Hroisman signed a motion to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Finance Minister Oleksandr Danyliuk's dismissal.

"I signed a request to the Verkhovna Rada to dismiss Minister of Finance Oleksandr Danyliuk. After the conflict provoked by him at a Government meeting, he allowed himself actions which, in my opinion, were incompatible with his further stay in office as a member of the Cabinet of Ministers," Hroisman wrote on social media, Censor.NET reports citing UNIAN.

"The dissemination of distorted information among our international partners just before the important negotiations with the EU could jeopardize their outcome," the prime minister stressed.

Hroisman added that "unfortunately, Oleksandr Danyliuk failed to make adjustments to his chosen line of conduct even after discussing the situation with members of the government team."

"Therefore, I don't see the opportunities for him to remain its member so I ask people's deputies to support my submission," the official wrote. "In the context of the challenges we have, the replacement of the head of the Ministry of Finance must be resolved without delay."

As reported, Danyliuk tried to steamroll the appointment of his adviser Yana Buhrimova to the post of Deputy Finance Minister in charge of customs policy at the government meeting on May 23. The minister’s request was denied following a short squabble with PM Hroisman during which Danyliuk even mentioned his resignation. However, he later said he had no intent to resign.

The finance minister also wrote a letter to the G7 ambassadors to avoid possible manipulations surrounding his conflict with the prime minister. In his letter published May 31, which was written before Hroisman's May 25 visit to Brussels, Danyliuk stressed that he insists on the right to form his own team independently - without agreement of the prime minister or the president, who allegedly sought persons put forward by MPs Ihor Kononenko and Nina Yuzhanina to be appointed to this post.

Hroisman considers that letter unacceptable.
