Yesterday, May 31, combined Russian-separatist forces committed seven attacks using banned heavy weaponry such as 120- and 82-mm mortars and 122-mm guns. The Russian mercenaries committed a total of 26 cease-fire violations over the past 24-hour period.
"Hostilities were underway in the vicinity of Novotoshkivske village in Luhansk direction; near Novoselivka Druha and Kamianka villages at Donetsk section of the forefront; on the outskirts of Chermalyk, Pavlopil, and Vodiane in Mariupol direction. In order to prevent the advance of the enemy troops and suppress its firing points, the JFO units adequately responded to the attacks and firmly held their positions," the situation report reads.
"As reported, the enemy fired about 30 mortar and artillery shells upon Chermalyk village yesterday morning in violation of the norms of the International Humanitarian Law. The Ukrainian side of the JCCC (Joint Center for Control and Coordination of the ceasefire in the Donbas) documented a courtyard of a private house being hit by a mortar shell," the agency said.
"Three our soldiers were injured in action over the past day. Intelligence sources indicate that two invaders were killed and another two received injuries. Moreover, five Russian mercenaries’ vehicles were destroyed including two trucks with ammunition, one unidentified vehicle, two AA guns and a mortar," the statement reads.
