The police later said that two investigation teams were brought in to perform supplementary examination of the crime scene and personal belongings of the murdered journalist.
"A number of expert examinations will be commissioned as part of the criminal case: the investigators have already drafted the relevant requests to the court regarding issuing warrants for performing forensic examination and ballistics test. Moreover, supplementary examination of the crime scene and the victim's personal belongings is underway, neighborhood police inspectors are carrying out door-to-door enquiries and the operatives are looking for the CCTV footage," said Chief of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Kyiv, Andrii Kryshchenko.
As reported, Russian writer and opposition journalist Arkady Babchenko died of gunshot wounds to the back after he was attacked on the doorstep of his apartment in Kyiv’s Dniprovskyi district on May 29. Police say the main and most obvious theory of the homicide is Babchenko's professional activity. Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation also initiated a probe into the journalist’s murder.
