 Germany and Russia Postponed Joint Forum

The Government of Germany and the Russian Federation supported the decision of the organizers to move back the Petersburg Dialogue Forum.

Chairman of the German Coordinating Committee of the forum Lothar de Mezieres said Monday October 13, Censor.NET reports citing Deutsche Welle.

According to him, the decision was made in order to preserve peaceful nature of the dialogue.

The organizers do not wish to see the forum to be mired in political debate and used as a tool, de Mezieres said.

He also said that the decision of the organizers to postpone the forum was supported by the governments of both countries.

Censor.NET reported previously that several German non-governmental organizations refused to participate in Petersburg Dialogue, the forum of Germany and the Russian Federation civilian communities' representatives.

The boycott was caused by Russia's actions in the conflict over Ukraine and the repression of public organizations in the Russian Federation.
