Germany: No Reason for Lifting Sanctions Against Russia Continuing to Make Vain Promises

Despite the declared withdrawal of the Russian troops from the border adjacent to the Ukrainian territory, the German government sees no reason to cancel or mitigate the sanctions imposed against Russia by the West.

German government speaker Steffen Seibert said this Monday at the press conference in Berlin, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrinfrom.

"We see no reason today to question the currently existing sanctions," he said.

According to him, Moscow's decision to withdraw 17.6 thousand servicemen from the territory of the Rostov region though is "a step in the direction of stress relief," but has yet to be carried out in practice. As Seibert noted, experience shows that Russia again and again makes promises before an important meeting at the international level, and then they do not accomplish them.

Recall, ASEM will be held in Milan October 16-17 with the EU leaders participation as well as Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.
