"In Luhansk direction, the enemy stepped up attacks in the vicinity of Troitske village. At Donetsk section of the forefront, the JFO units continued maintaining active defense on the outskirts of Zaitseve, Luhanske, Novoluhanske, Maiorsk, Shumy, Zalizne, Pivdenne, Novhorodske, Avdiivka, Marinka, and Novohnativka. It is also noted that in Mariupol direction hostilities keep being recorded near Chermalyk, Vodiane, and Shyrokyne.
"In violation of Minsk agreements and international humanitarian law, the Russian-occupation troops committed 53 attacks over the past day including 30 strikes with 122-mm artillery, 120- and 82-mm mortars. The JFO detachments adequately responded to the enemy attacks preventing the invaders from forcing our units out of dominating defensive positions," the statement reads.
Counter-sniper measures that were reportedly taken near Avdiivka and Marinka put an end to sniper attacks on defenders of these towns.
"The enemy carried out fierce attacks from three different directions trying to squeeze our soldiers out of the recently liberated Pivdenne village. The shelling by the Russian mercenaries wreaked havoc among residents of Horlivka and impacted the nearby town of Toretsk," the agency said.
Intelligence sources indicate that 15 members of combined Russian-separatist forces were killed and 13 were wounded yesterday as Ukrainian troops fired back.
