"This morning, director of Toretsk-based children’s socio-psychological rehabilitation center advised the local police about the shelling that shattered the facility’s windows at 6:20 a.m. No one was hurt in the bombardment," the police press service said in a statement, Censor.NET reports.
The rehab authorities requested police assistance in the evacuation of 28 children aged 3 to 17.
The police are currently taking the children and staff out of the hot zone.
According to the law enforcers, the militants’ artillery strikes have been hitting Pivdenne village in Toretsk’s larger area starting from 6 a.m. today. Seven households were reportedly damaged in the bombardment. Preliminary reports indicate no casualties.
The team of investigators of the Toretsk police precinct was sent to the scene.
The incident was identified as a crime punishable by part 1 of article 258 (act of terrorism) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
