Ahlin believes that Ukraine should first carry out the necessary reforms in order to raise the issue of a possible membership in the EU.
"It is a very difficult task to join the EU. I do not know how long it may take, 5 or 6 years, but the doors are not closed, they are open, and there is an internal discussion on how Ukraine could join the EU is in progress," Ahlin said.
He stated that there is a certain group of countries that oppose Ukraine's accession to the EU.
However, he said that he personally supports the idea. In this regard he added that Ukraine, in turn, must be determined to do this.
On September 25, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said that the aim of its proposed reforms is to achieve European standards of living and to apply for Ukraine's accession to the EU in 2020.
