OSCE Does Not Control Entire Ukrainian-Russian Border. Monitoring Mission Needs to Be Strengthened - NSDC

The number of the OSCE observers and their efficiency is not sufficient for the monitoring of all the Ukrainian-Russian border.

According to Censor.NET citing Ukrinform, this was stated by speaker of the NSDC Andrii Lysenko at a briefing.

"Indeed, the number of the OSCE representatives now deployed in the east of Ukraine does not allow for full control of the entire area, including the area along the Ukrainian-Russian border, so we look forward to strengthening this mission," Lysenko said.

According to him, the effectiveness of the mission will soon to be enhanced by unmanned aerial vehicles and increase of the number of observers.

"Since the areas of observation are larger, the number of the OSCE representatives in the east of Ukraine, will be increased at the insistence of President of Ukraine. Also, the effectiveness of their monitoring will be improved by using UAVs, which will be provided for them," the speaker of the National Security Council stated.
