As reported by Censor.NET referring to the statement by the press service of the prosecutor's office, the law enforcers have successfully completed a carefully planned long-running special operation to detain a group of officials who extorted a bribe from a businessman for maintaining a state property lease agreement.
"The law enforcers found that the acting chairman of the board of the state-run bread-making enterprise Khlib Ukrainy colluded with the CEO of the company’s Chernivtsi-based subsidiary, deputy mayor of Chernivtsi and the chief legal officer of Khlib Ukrainy to monthly extort 100,000 in bribe from the private firm director for taking no steps to terminate the lease agreement concerning state-owned industrial premises.
The law enforcers conducted comprehensive investigation in Kyiv and Chernivtsi and documented the above-mentioned individuals receiving 200,000 hryvnia in bribe in two parts.
The corrupt officials were detained under article 208 of Ukraine’s Criminal Procedure Code. The pretrial investigation is underway.
