Secretary General of NATO, former Prime Minister of Norway, Jens Stoltenberg, who entered at the position October 1, said Sunday in Warsaw that the alliance is ready to place its troops wherever deemed necessary.
During his visit to Poland the politician said about the planned ministerial meeting of member countries of the alliance in 2015, which will decide on the immediate reaction force establishment. In this case, Stoltenberg said that even without such units NATO "has a strong army. We can deploy it wherever we want to."
The new NATO Secretary General visited Poland to assure local authorities in providing protection against the aggressive policy of Moscow. Earlier, NATO countries in Eastern Europe asked to station NATO troops on their territories in connection with the actions of Russia in Crimea and eastern Ukraine.
Jens Stoltenberg said October 1, that the steps to destabilize the situation in Ukraine may be expected from Russia, but at the same time, NATO does not seek confrontation with Moscow.
