"Everything that is happening around Nadia Savchenko in recent days, shows that this hype is actually used for covering up anti-Ukrainian steps that are being taken ... I do not think that Ukraine is so weak today to let one person, Nadia Savchenko, carry out a take-over or something like that. I see it as a hysteria being used to cover up true situation with corruption, with misappropriation of Ukrainian property," Tymoshenko told journalists Monday, Censor.NET reports citing Interfax-Ukraine.
The politician believes that such a stir around Savchenko is aimed at covering up the intention to remove the government from running the gas transportation system.
She also noted that the law enforcement agencies had to intervene in the situation around the MP. According to Tymoshenko, Batkivshchyna will support stripping its former member of parliamentary immunity as its lawmakers always do when it comes to waiving the immunity of MPs.
On March 15, Prosecutor General Yurii Lutsenko requested the Verkhovna Rada to strip MP Savchenko of immunity, detain and arrest her. The lawmaker is suspected of allegedly plotting an armed coup through acts of terrorism.
