As reported by Censor.NET referring to Mukachevo.NET, First Deputy Chairman of the Zakarpattia Regional Council, Deputy Chairman of the Hungarian Cultural Association NGO, Iosif Borto, said that according to preliminary findings, an unidentified individual planted an improvised explosive device on the windowsill of the office and triggered it around 3:12 a.m. on Feb. 27.
According to him, the crime and the perpetrator were captured on surveillance cameras installed on the Hungarian Cultural Association office and nearby buildings.
"Unidentified individual or individuals carried out a terrorist attack against our office at 3 a.m. today. The surveillance footage shows an unknown person who put a bag with explosive device on the windowsill of our office and walked away at 3:05 a.m. A powerful blast rocked the building 7 minutes later. The security guarding the neighboring buildings heard the explosion and called the firefighters and police. The shock wave was powerful enough to trigger alarms in the buildings across the river," he said.
According to Borto, the explosion shattered the windows of the office and caused fire which destroyed everything inside the 2-storey building.
"I was informed about the incident at 3:15 a.m. and managed to get to the scene around 3:25 a.m. I'm sure that there isn’t a soul in Ukraine and Zakarpattia who would commit this crime. We have nationalists, ultranationalists, but I do not I think that the citizens of Ukraine did this," Borto elaborated on the incident.
A local online news outlet Karpatskyi Objektyv published footage of explosion captured on surveillance cameras installed on the neighboring building.
The footage timeline shows that the explosion occurred at 3:11 a.m. on the night of Feb. 27.
