 Breaks in Kharkiv heating system: maintenance teams restore heat supply to kindergartens, schools, hospitals,- Deputy Mayor Terekhov

Kharkiv utility service providers have restored the heat supply to all educational and healthcare facilities as of the morning of Feb. 26 while the heating is expected to be delivered to the multi-apartment buildings within the day.

First Deputy Mayor of Kharkiv Ihor Terekhov told Radio Svoboda, Censor.NET reports.

"All public amenities including kindergartens, schools, and hospital receive heating as of now. The multi-apartment buildings are also expected to receive heat supply soon," the official said.

As reported by UNIAN, some 666 residential and social housing facilities in two districts of the city of Kharkiv were left without heating on the night of February 24-25 due to breaks in the heating system.

The first breakage of the heating system happened in Nemyshlianskyi district at around 3 p.m. on Feb. 24, and two more occurred later on, at 9 p.m. on Feb. 24 and at 2 a.m. on Feb. 25, 

"Some 605 multi-apartment buildings, 26 schools, 21 kindergartens, and 14 medical institutions, including four hospitals, were left without heating. As of 7 a.m. on Feb. 25, there had been 144 facilities, namely 129 buildings, seven kindergartens, five medical institutions, and three schools, left with no heating," the press office of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine said.

Long operation of the heating system reportedly caused the accidents.
