He said about this at the Central Museum of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in Moscow on Wednesday, speaking at a meeting with the president of the unrecognized Transnistrian Moldovan Republic Yevgeniy Shevchuk, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrinfrom.
"We hope that Transdniestrians have the strength, patience and composure to protect their own land from such events, which, unfortunately, are taking place today on the territory of Ukraine. The Russian Federation will fully comply with its own historical role - the role of a guarantor of peace and security on the Transnistrian land, the role of peacemaker in accordance with its international obligations," he said.
According to Rogozin, "a lot" of Russian citizens are living in Transnistria. The Deputy Prime Minister stressed that their lives and security are "the objects of care of the Russian Federation Constitution."
It is worth noting that such statements were heard from representatives of the Russian government before the occupation of Crimea and the military invasion to eastern Ukraine.
"Do not indulge yourselves with illusions of whether Russia will not protect its own citizens. It definitely will. And it's no use trying our patience and strength," he said.
