As reported by Censor.NET citing 112 Ukraine TV channel, the High Council of Justice considered removal of the police and National Guard protection from courts and the ruling of the Shevchenkivskyi district court not to place in pre-trial custody the individual who inflicted a gunshot wound to a policeman in a clash that took place outside the Solomianskyi district court while it was choosing a measure of restraint for Odesa Mayor Trukhanov.
It is noteworthy that the meeting was convened on the backdrop of the recent statement by Interior Minister Arsen Avakov to withdraw law enforcers guarding the courts.
The Verkhovna Rada chairman was expected to be briefed on the results of the meeting.
As reported, a policeman received a gunshot wound during a clash outside the Solomianskyi district court of Kyiv as its judges were imposing a pre-trial restriction against Odesa Mayor Hennadii Trukhanov on Feb 17. The gunmen was apprehended while the injured police officer was hospitalized.
