The top anti-corruption prosecutor also said that SAP will seek pre-trial detention with 30 million hryvnia bail option for Trukhanov’s deputy Vuhelman and similar pre-trial restriction for the rest of the defendants but with the right to post 10 million hryvnia in bail.
According to him, six detainees have been served with charge papers while two more suspects in the case are still wanted by the law enforcement.
The pre-trial restriction will be imposed on the suspects by the Solomianskyi district court of Kyiv.
Kholodnytskyi stressed that all the detainees had the status of suspects and had been brought no indictments against so far.
"Prosecutors will need 3-4 months to complete the investigation," Kholodnytskyi added.
On Feb. 13, 2018, detectives of Ukraine’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) served charge papers to Odesa Mayor Hennadii Trukhanov and three officials of the mayor's office in absentia.
The investigators believe all the aforementioned persons were involved in embezzlement scheme. In September 2016, the Odesa City Council purchased a building, which used to be a part of asset package of the state-owned Kraian plant, for 185 million hryvnia from a private firm which purchased the entire asset package for 11.5 million hryvnia at an auction organized by the receiver of the state enterprise in early 2016.
