"The search was authorized in order to seize papers listed in the court ruling required for further investigation. We provide comprehensive support to the investigators as it is critical for us to unveil abuses and bring the perpetrators to account," said Serhii Hronskyi, deputy chairman of the USPA in charge of Maritime and Internal Security.
He noted that the investigation was initiated against former USPA managers.
Sources familiar with the matter told Hromadske that NABU detectives conducted searches at homes of USPA ex-Chairman Andrii Amelin and ex-Deputy Chairman of USPA Yurii Nakonechnyi who headed the enterprise for a while.
Earlier, NABU conducted search and seizure operation at an Odesa-based state-owned enterprise which employees are suspected of large-scale embezzlement.
The law enforcers believe that in 2015-2016 USPA concluded dredging contracts with Irida LLC, Tekhmormistbud Mykolaiv LLC, and Inflot-Danubius Agency PE at inflated prices.
The investigators estimate that about 300 million hryvnia of public funds were embezzled as a result of the fraud.
