"We are talking about a large group of criminals who committed several contract killings and assassination attempts in Kyiv. Not all of its members were named, only those whose identities the investigators decided to made public," Avakov said.
He also said that the crime ring members plotted terrorist attacks against government facilities.
"A group of militants plotted terrorist attacks against government agencies. They also contemplated elimination of several government employees, a minister, and other officials," the interior minister said.
The detention of the former director general of the Ukrspyrt state enterprise, Mykhailo Labutin, in Romania was reported on Jan. 25, 2018.
According to the Prosecutor General's Office, he was in charge of a criminal organization whose participants committed several serious crimes, including the murder of the adviser to the Ukrspyrt director on May 30, 2017, and also planned the murder of Ukraine's Interior Minister Arsen Avakov.
