As reported by a correspondent for Censor.NET, Prime Minister Volodymyr Hroisman announced at the beginning of the Cabinet meeting.
"We shall raise Ukrainian teachers’ salaries as early as this January. You know last year’s decision allowed us to increase the salaries of teachers by 50 percent. The Ukrainian teachers will receive additional 1,500 hryvnia (about $53) to one’s salary this year. It means that if the teachers previously received 5,000-7,000 hryvnia, their salary shall vary from 6,500 to 8,500 hryvnia on average this year," he said.
Hroisman also stressed the discriminatory situation the coaches of the Children's Sports School as well as music and art schools teachers found themselves in, compared to the general schools teachers.
"We are talking about the fact that their salaries are lower than those paid from the state budget," the PM said reminding that the salaries of the abovementioned categories of teachers is paid from the local budgets under decentralization.
"We need to reach out the local authorities. This is my personal request. And the government shall take the relevant decision, if required, to raise salaries of teachers, coaches and creative community members," the prime minister said.
Hroisman asked the Social Policy, Education Ministries, and the Ministry of Youth and Sports to resolve this issue.
