Ukraine failed to fulfill all conditions to receive EU’s financial aid, - Ambassador Mingarelli

Ukraine has not fulfilled four out of 21 conditions to receive macro-financial assistance from the European Union.

EU Ambassador to Ukraine Hugues Mingarelli said on air of Ukrainske Radio, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrinform.

Mingarelli said that Ukraine’s President Poroshenko personally asked President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker during the Eastern Partnership Summit last November whether the EU could provide new macro-financial assistance to Ukraine. According to the ambassador, Junker ordered to estimate the extent of assistance required by Ukraine in order to assess the possibility of providing it.

The diplomat also said that the European Commission "is now unable" to allocate 600 million euros in EU macro-financial assistance due to Ukraine's failure to comply with four out of 21 conditions necessary to receive such assistance.

Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Ivanna Klympush-Tsyntsadze said Jan. 3 that Ukraine did not receive from the European Union the list of conditions for granting new macro-financial assistance in 2018-2019 and had not yet started negotiating this issue.

President Poroshenko said following talks with the European Commission representatives on Nov. 24, 2017 that the new EU macro-financial assistance program amounting to approximately 1.8 billion euros would be launched in 2018.
