 Russia Has Openly Threatened Europe to Cut Off Gas Supplies Due to Its Assistance to Ukraine

Russia will cease gas supplies to Europe in case of its further re-export to Ukraine by the member countries of the European Union.

Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novaksaid this in conversation with a Handelsblatt reporter on Friday,September 25, Censor.NETinforms citing Deutsche Welle.

According to him, Russia "cannot guarantee" uninterruptedgas supply to Europe in the context of its re-export to Ukraine."The concluded agreements do not stipulate for re-export. We hopethat our European partners will adhere to the terms of thecontracts. We can ensure an uninterrupted supply of gas to Europeanconsumers only on this basis," Novak said on the eve of the nextround of gas negotiations between Russia and Ukraine through themediation of the European Commission.

Thetalks, during which Russian gas supplies to Ukraine will bediscussed, will be held on September 26 in Berlin, Germany. Themeeting of Moscow and Kyiv representatives will be coordinated byEuropean Commissioner for Energy Gunther Oettinger.
