She confirmed that the person charged with involvement in Odesa riots on May 2, 2014, a Russian native Evgeny Mefedov, was released from the remand prison for the upcoming swap.
"I can tell you that a total of eight persons suspected and indicted of a number of crimes against national security, territorial integrity, and public order violations have already been released from custody by the courts under the same procedure in the last few days," she said.
"They are subjects to swap for our prisoners of war and other persons unlawfully held in the territory controlled by the illegal armed formations," Verba said.
As reported by Timer, the Odesa-based pro-Russian news outlet, 10 out of 38 separatists held in the Odesa remand prison will be swapped.
In Minsk, the Ukrainian officials and the “DPR”/“LPR” representatives negotiate holding the prisoner swap in two stages. At the first stage, the “DPR”/“LPR” must release 74 Ukrainian prisoners in exchange for 306 separatists, which should take place before the New Year and Christmas holidays. At the second stage, Ukraine will have to swap 80 terrorists’ accomplices for 20 prisoners of war.
